iHomeServer Release - iTunes 11 + Windows Server 2012 Essentials support

Just a quick note to confirm we have released iHomeServer recently which adds formal support for iTunes 11 and Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

As per our previous post, if you are upgrading to iTunes 11, we recommend you use iTunes version 11.0.1 only and follow the following steps:

  • Make sure you have your latest backup available, in case you have any problems with iTunes 11
  • Uninstall iHomeServer first (don't worry your user settings, watch folder config, etc, won't be deleted)
  • Upgrade iTunes from an admin account on the desktop/server you use to run iTunes
  • Log in as the user you have told iHomeServer to use when it starts iTunes
  • Ensure you agree to the updated Terms and Conditions dialog
  • Close any tutorial window or 'What's new' windows
  • Ensure the library main window is open (i.e. do not leave it showing the iTunes Store)
  • Close iTunes and restart your computer.
  • Reinstall the latest version of iHomeServer and enter the same user account details you were originally using in order to restore your settings.

Last month I updated my WHS2011 system to both iTunes and iHomeServer, and have since updated to  In both cases I am having trouble with importing using watched folders.  Movies all end up in the Home Video folder in iTunes, no matter what setting I put on the folder for forced destination in iHomeServer.  I can't even see the home video folder as an option in iHomeServer.  They also do not autotag on import, but that didnt work on the old version either.  Files don't move to the correct folder when I update the content type with get info from the ihomeserver console.  I have to open iTunes interactively to move them.

Hi Scott,

We thought we had resolved the Home Video issue that iTunes 11 created in release; however, we have had some other users report in issues.

We have released a beta release which some users are testing and reporting resolves the issue.  If you would like to update to this release, you can download it from:

With The files can now be moved from within the dashboard by refeshing the video type field as "movie" or autotagging manually.  They still start off in Home Video.  After updating the last file in Home Video the folder is automatically deleted, but it is recreated on next import.

I suspect if I could get autotag to run on import that would prevent the problem.  My watch folder says "Always" for autotag, but it never runs.  Do I need more than the title name in the file name I send to import?
